About

Missio International (formerly USAffairs) was launched in 1993 in response to a request from Eugen Groza (Founder & President, MLI) for support, coordination and representation in the United States. Under the leadership of Alec and Kenny Woodhull (father & son), a ministry team incorporated in 1994.

From its inception, Missio International has enjoyed a distinctly relational ministry. It is evangelical in its mission orientation, and ecumenical in its commitment to work across denominational boundaries with a variety of faith-based individuals, church and para-church interests as well as partnership with Foundations and organizations throughout the United States and Romania.

In the aftermath (1990-91) of the Romanian Revolution, Petru Dugulescu and Eugen Groza launched an indigenous ministry in Romania under the name Isus Speranta Romaniei (ISR).  Through a variety of initiatives ISR addressed the material and spiritual needs of post-communist Romania.  While on an exploratory mission with Project Partner, Alec Woodhull was introduced to Peter and Eugen.  In 1993, Missio International was started through Alec’s leadership in response to ISR’s request for facilitative representation in the United States.  In 2000, Eugen continued the work begun with ISR through a new ministry under the name Missio Link International

From its inception, Missio International has enjoyed a distinctly relational ministry. Missio International is evangelical in its mission orientation and ecumenical in its commitment to work across denominational boundaries. Missio International works with faith-based individuals, church, and para-church interests as well as Foundations and resource organizations throughout the United States and Romania. Missio International is a 501 (c) 3 organization in good standing with local, state, and federal authorities. For the sake of clarity, in January 2009, the USAffairs Board of Directors voted to change the name USAffairs to Missio International.

The purpose of Missio International is to collaborate with God in his love for the people of Romania. To this end, our primary ministry partner is Missio Link International with whom we develop servanthood relationships in the USA, assisting with financial support, organizational insight, leadership, planning and networking resources, strategy expertise, administrative accountability, and prayer support.

Relationships.  Missio International facilitates a variety of cross-cultural partnerships based on principles of Christian leadership and service.  Our goal through the cultivation of these partnerships is to develop God-honoring relationships of mutual edification that speak to the needs and assets of Romanian and American partners alike.

Funding. The purpose of all funding provided through Missio International is to help Romanians help themselves as they address the critical material, spiritual, and social needs of their country.  Missio International is pleased to raise, receipt, and track all contributions on behalf of Missio Link International and their Romanian associates.

Leadership.  Utilizing many years of organizational experience in ministry, business, and professional settings, the Missio International team engages in strategic planning, provides accountability, offers leadership development, sets goals and   benchmarks, and asks a lot of questions along the way.

Prayer.  Missio International coordinates a network of prayer support, gathering and disseminating requests and praises through a network of faithful prayer warriors across the United States.

Statement of Faith

The Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, redeems us from our sinfulness through His death and resurrection and empowers us individually and corporately by the Holy Spirit. The Bible is God’s authoritative and definitive Word, and through it we are called to a life of Christian holiness and love; that is, to exercise compassion, practice peace, proclaim God’s gospel of reconciliation in Jesus Christ to all people, and develop disciples in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Spirit. The church is a nurturing and prophetic community of God’s people purposed to carry out His Word – to worship Him and witness to the world. We wait expectantly for our Lord Jesus’ return in glory.

Through the oversight of a board of directors and two staff persons, an amazing network of volunteers from around the United States carries out the facilitative ministry of Missio International.   Having carried the leadership torch for fifteen years Alec Woodhull has passed the chairmanship to Mike McKeithen and the role of President to Kenny Woodhull.  Alec will assume greater responsibility with Missio International‘s Board of Reference.

In addition to serving as Missio International chairman Mike and his wife Darlene lead the US group which facilitates MLI’s Children at Risk initiatives.  Fifteen churches serve in the capacity of church partners as do hundreds of individuals with strong representation in Seattle, Knoxville, Harrisonburg, Atlanta, Memphis, Toledo, Indianapolis, and Midland, Texas.

Betty Holt, professional accountant and longtime MLI volunteer, is MI’s financial secretary. Kenny Woodhull has been an integral part of Missio International since 1993 and now serves in the capacity of Executive Director. He is currently a doctoral candidate in Missiology at Fuller Theological Seminary’s School of Intercultural Studies.
